Something is wrong with your computer . . . First, make a back-up of your important music, pictures, and data. Things could get worse!
Slow Computer
Open the control panel and select add/remove programs (XP) or Program Features (Vista & Win7). Go through the list of programs and remove:

Google Toolbar
and every other toolbar
Google Desktop
Anything from Yahoo you don't use
Websearch and anything indicating 'search'
Weatherbug
Weather Channel
Anything else you don't use
The icons in the lower right corner of the screen represent programs that were started automatically when you turned your computer on. They may be programs that you seldom use. Most have options that let you select 'start automatically when Windows starts.' - turn that option off. If you don't use the program at all, then uninstall it.
Run a virus scan using your antivirus program.
Your computer may need more Random Access Memory (RAM).
With Windows XP, at least 512MB of RAM is recommended.
Windows 7 or Vista require at least 2GB of RAM.
Installing RAM requires opening your computer tower and can be a bit tricky. Give Supertecs a call.
